My local gaming group have just started a Warmachine Journeyman League. Rules Here.
I’m taking Cygnar. So far, I have had 2 wins and 3 losses. It’s been great getting to know the game mechanics with friends…
In order to make it more accessible, the campaign organiser has allowed us to change the contents of our “battlebox”, which is normally the box set containing basic minis for your army. I only found that out in my last game, and swapped my lancer and charger for ‘ol rowdy, for more hammer time! (Power and Strength 18 hammers FTW!) Unfortunately, I lost both Rowdy’s and Ironclad’s hammers very early in the game, but my opponent was a great sport and allowed a few take-backsies as we learn the game. And in a show of good faith, I did likewise later in the game.
Should be interesting once the army points come up each week and I can field more shooting again. As the Cygnar saying holds;
“We may be outnumbered but we’re never outgunned!”
I’m also looking forward to painting my Cygnar with The Army Painter 4 step process (See Here). I have ordered the Warpaints Mega Paint Set from Defiant Gaming, and have recently received two cans of Ultramarine Blue Army Painter Spray from The Combat Company. Unfortunately, the blue is a bit darker than I was hoping for, so I’ll order some Crystal Blue Army Painter Spray ASAP and start racking up some hobby points in the league.
I’ve also got my hands on some Cobblestone Bases from Tabletop Art, really looking forward to using them for the Cygnar…

Although a little slower and a little weaker per hit, a good model to take in small games (especially with Stryker) is a Hammersmith.
The damage it can take on a feat turn and the holes it can make in opponents’ defences on every other is unbelievable.
I don’t actually have a Hammersmith currently. I did have one, but I didn’t like the hammers. I’m considering trying to find a cheap one second hand, and then converting the hammers… although, isn’t he one of the new plastic Cygnar models I saw floating around?
I’ve got a lot of Hammer Time in my army, with Ol’ Rowdy and Ironclad… As I said, can’t wait for the points increase to bring back shooting, and then back it up with MOAR HAMMER! =D
Yep he’s with the centurion & avenger. Not sure whether or not I prefer the metal one or not. Personally I think the ‘smith’s hammers are the best looking ones Cygnar has.
AITNO, (allinthenameof), do you know if that kit is gonna be a three in one, like the current Heavy Warjack Kit? I’m sure I could probably work it out if I have a good hard look at them, haven’t had the chance to yet…
